No Pampering by some technicians

Gary's was nice I loved Georgia who did my brow wax, great experience with her, however, I have had my haircut by Janna, and felt like she was rushing me out of the place by the end. Things started off well although I thought she would try to get a better idea of what i wanted. I was expecting for her to cut some more layers into the hair and spend a little more time styling. as soon as it was dry she was like ok look at the back, I should have spoken up so it is partially my fault that i didn't end up with the look I wanted. Although my hair has gotten compliments already and it has been just a few days. I may return but try a different stylist. I think maybe the salon books the appointments a little too close so the stylist are in too big of a hurry. At other salons I felt like when I left I was ready for a night on the town, here I felt that I had to go home and do the finishing touches to the style. Also if you see the prices online for haircut they are not accurate you will need to ask before you book if price is an issue. It said for the top level hairstylist to do a cut, shampoo, and blowdry was 40 dollars but they charge 45 for the haircut and another 10 for the shampoo, so I don't know what that was about. over all it was good but they still have to work some kinks out.

Highly rated

I would much rather make an appointment at Gary Allen than any other salon. They are more business and client oriented than any other place I've been.

You will need an appointment...walk in not likely

The only time I was able to get in was with an appointment, even though they say they take walk ins. The hair salon was very busy and the stylists were very professional. I overheard a few consultations while I waited for my technician...they are very thorough and it seems they want a great understanding before they start cutting and styling. Which is probably what helps their customers get exactly what they want with fewer touch ups needed. The technician who did my wax was thorough and did a great job. This was the only place I found in Virginia Beach who did waxing the way I wanted. I found them very professional and friendly.

Save your money.

I bought my mother a gift certificate from here for Mother's Day. She ended up using $45 of it for a pedicure. $45! For this much, she should have gotten the best pedicure in the world. However, she said it was possibly the worst she has had, definitely worse than ones she pays half the price for. The didn't have massage chairs or hot towels, and only massaged her legs up to her ankles. The polish application was poor, I could have done a better hand left handed - she actually had to come home and redo it! Given that it was a spa, she should have been pampered more - that is what I intended when I gave her the gift certificate. Since her pedicure was so poor, she doesn't even want to use the rest of the gift certificate. Not recommended.
