I went to Cycle World since I didn't like the overpriced motorcycles and the mind games played by the manager and salesperson in Sunrise Cycle. When I arrived in Cycle World, I made an offer and the salesperson (Leon Glass) with the authorization from the manager accepted my offer. I wrote them a check and I signed all the paperwork to finalize the sale including the DMV registration. I was told that the motorcycle will be delivered to my house within 7 days. I left the dealership very satisfied although the amount was still slightly overpriced. I received a call a few days later and I was told to return to the dealership to sign additional paperwork. When I arrived, the salesperson (Leon Glass) and the manager told me that the price of the motorcycle went up. They told me that I had to pay an additional $1000 to get the motorcycle or get something different for the amount that we initially agreed on. I walked away and I requested for all the paperwork to be returned to me since I did not want to deal with them. I noticed that they did not sign any of them; therefore, they knew that they were going to rip me off at the very beginning. On my way out, the manager blatantly told me that the owners of Cycle World and Sunrise Cycle are "best friends" and they "work as a team." This allows them to dictate the prices in the area way above the MSRP in addition to charging ridiculous freight/processing fees. These are worst than car dealers! Long story short, I drove to Casey Cycle in Newport News to purchase my motorcycle since I didn't like the dishonesty of the people in CycleWorld and Sunrise Cycle.

No use for this dealership

You'd think a Ninja 500R would be a pretty popular bike choice... and according to Cycle World, you'd be wrong. They stock 250cc bikes and 600cc bikes; if you want something in between, tough luck. Good luck getting them to budge from the sticker price. Sunrise Cycles has a better selection, but they'll expect MSRP or higher, as well. I ended up buying both of my bikes from Craigslist; it was a very good choice.

Cycle World Ordeal

Buyers beware ordering accessories for your new motorcycle and prepare for long delays on receiving the items. Do not try to hold Cycle World in Virginia Beach to the terms of the agreement for it is your fault that you expect them to fulfill their end of the deal. Once they have your money you become an inconvenience. I purchased a Suzuki Boulevard C50 from Cycle World in Virginia Beach Virginia on June 16th 2008. At the time of purchase I ordered a windshield, back rest, saddle bags and passenger floor boards. I was told that the order will take 3 to 4 days. With that understanding, I purchased the bike with a pre-approved check from a lender plus over $1,000 for the accessories and the extended warranty. For the windshield this was delivered close to promised time. After six weeks of waiting for the remainder of the accessories I was informed that I would have to wait until August 15th 2008. That places my order to 8 weeks or longer from the time of purchases. Cycle World and Suzuki gave me the impression that it is the customers issue and that the customer should cheerfully give them your money and wait for the product when it is convenient for them. You will quickly become a difficult customer if you insist on receive your purchased items in a timely manner. Contact your local Consumer Protect agency, your state Consumer Protection Agency and the Federal Consumer Agency. There are laws to protect you and laws they must follow. With my personal experiences with Cycle World, I will never buy another item from that store nor do I recommend them to others. If you choose to buy a Suzuki motorcycle, order after market accessories. You have a better chance to receive the items in a timely manner. As a learning lesson, if you want the dealership to install the accessories, make sure you discuss that in the negotiations of the purchase price.
